FOLSOM - South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas, subsidiaries of SJI, recently celebrated Natural Gas Utility Workers’ Day, which spotlights natural gas workers’ role in providing safe, reliable and affordable natural gas service every day.
South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas utility workers are responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of miles of natural gas infrastructure in the state of New Jersey. Their effort in safely expanding and modernizing the State’s natural gas delivery system helps meet the service needs of customers in the communities we serve.
“We dedicate today to the exceptional work our natural gas utility workers do every day and celebrate their commitment to safety,” said Steven Cocchi, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, SJI. “And we extend our deepest gratitude for their unwavering commitment to excellence and for working tirelessly to ensure that homes and businesses throughout New Jersey continue to have safe, reliable, and affordable access to natural gas.
Safety is a core value of SJI, and that is why they follow the guiding principle of “Make Every Day a Safe Day,” — which is an organizational promise to the employees, customers, and community partners the company conducts business with every day.
As part of its “Make Every Day a Safe Day” commitment, SJI incentivizes safety through its Safety Jackpot Program. Employees earn virtual scratch-off cards for their contributions to the company’s safety culture, including safety suggestions, near misses and completing safety courses. In addition to boosting training opportunities for employees and community partners, SJI continues to improve safety, reliability and reduce carbon emissions through infrastructure investment programs.
