WOODBRIDGE - New Jersey’s Winter Termination Program, which protects eligible customers from electric, gas and water utility shut-offs during the winter months, ends on Saturday, March 15.
In preparation, state and local officials, as well as utilities serving Woodbridge Township, are inviting area senior citizens to learn about utility assistance and other cost saving programs that are available to reduce utility bills.
The event, on Thursday, March 13, is free and open to Woodbridge seniors at the Maple Tree Senior Center in Avenel. Representatives from utilities serving the township will be in attendance to share information, including PSE&G, Elizabethtown Gas and Middlesex Water. The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and the New Jersey Utilities Association (NJUA) will also be represented.
“We are pleased to host this important event as the Woodbridge community prepares for the spring and summer seasons when electric and water rates will peak,” said Mayor John McCormac. “Our senior citizens, many of whom are on a fixed income, will be impacted. I laud the utilities for being proactive by hosting this informative program and hope many of our seniors can attend, learn some helpful household tips and join in the effort to be as energy efficient as possible.”
