Getting to Know: Doug Mokoid

Doug Makoid is the new president of JCP&L. He was spotlighted in NJUA's third quarter newsletter of 2024.

Tell us about yourself.

I am a lifelong New Jersey resident, having grown up in Salem County, and graduating from Rutgers University and Rutgers University School of Law Camden. My wife loves to travel, and I often joke (although it’s true), that I’d be perfectly fine if the farthest I went from my house was the Jersey Shore. Outside of travel, I have a son, Brady, who is in high school and I really enjoy just being a dad.

How did you get into this field?

My father worked for PSE&G Nuclear in Salem County and I saw first-hand the rewarding careers that the utility industry offers and the impact they have on our local communities.

What accomplishments are you most proud of in your career?

I’m most proud of the positive impacts I’ve made with reliability and the overall customer experience in each one of my roles and look forward to continuing to drive improvements in these areas at JCP&L.

What do you find most fulfilling in your new role?

As a lifelong NJ resident, I take immense pride in leading JCP&L and working alongside our talented and dedicated employees to power New Jersey. JCP&L is making significant investments for our customers and I am excited for the future.

How do you relax?

It’s not always relaxing, but I’m a huge Philadelphia sports fan. Fly Eagles Fly! (I’m a South Jersey guy.)

If you were only allowed to listen to one singer/band for the rest of your life, who would it be?

Harry Chapin. My father loved his music, so I’ve heard all of his songs thousands of times and can recite all of the lyrics.

Can you be found on social media?

LinkedIn! And I’m always looking to connect.
