Please tell us about yourself.
I grew up in Marlboro. I met my husband, Jonathan, at law school and we now reside in Manalapan with our three children: Daniel, 18, Rachel 17, and Michael, 11 and our dog, Cooper. I have a brother, Jeff Resnick, a Partner at Sherman, Silverstein, Kohl, Rose and Podolsky.
How did you get into this field?
I spent more than 17 years in government, starting as a Deputy Attorney General and ending my tenure as CEO of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. When I thought of my next steps, I wanted a company that prioritized the public, its employees and the environment. SJI stood out; I joined as a member of the senior team to drive the company’s vision to support our state’s clean energy efforts.
What accomplishments are you most proud of?
Super Storm Sandy had such a profound impact on so many of us. I recognized the importance of leadership and the management needed to bring people together for the state's greater good. I am most proud that we took all steps possible to ensure that New Jersey citizens had the ability to vote in the election that took place a week after the destruction; and also the work we did expanding housing opportunities for those impacted.
What drew you to working at South Jersey Industries?
The people at SJI drew me to the company. I get excited about the potential for our business to transform and grow through innovation. I continue to be impressed with our workforce, and I look forward to seeing where our talent and leadership takes us.
What are some of the biggest challenges facing the utilities industry this year?
Maintaining energy affordability and reliability will be the biggest challenges utilities will face as we transition our energy economy towards renewables.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role with the NJUA?
I am quite proud to be the first woman chair to lead NJUA. I look forward to bringing my perspective to NJUA as we together advocate for the utility industry in advancing policies that promote the interest of customers in the provision of safe, reliable, environmentally conscious, and cost-effective services.
How do you relax?
Running is my go-to outlet to help reduce stress and manage the work-life balance. Beyond work and my family, it is my designated time for self-care.
If you were only allowed to listen to one singer/band for the rest of your life, who would it be?
Billy Joel
