MONTCLAIR – The Clean Energy and Sustainability Analytics Center (CESAC) at Montclair State University will host its sixth-annual Clean and Sustainable Energy Summit on May 14, titled "Building a Resilient Future Through Regional Collaboration, Innovation, and Planning."
New Jersey Utilities Association (NJUA) President & CEO Richard Henning will be speaking at the event in a panel titled, “Seeking Positive Ratepayer Outcomes.” That panel will be moderated by former New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) Commissioner Upendra J. Chivukula.
The session will focus on basic generation service costs and ways to advance a clean energy future equitably to ensure the readiness of the energy grid, while continuing the commitments to reliability.
It will feature keynote addresses from Shawn M. LaTourette, New Jersey’s Commissioner of Environmental Protection and Joseph F. Accardo Jr., Senior Vice President, State Regulatory Affairs and Centralized Services, Public Service Electric & Gas Company (PSE&G).
Other sessions at the summit include:
- Drivers of electricity demand with keynote speaker Marion Abdou, NJBPU Commissioner
- Energy markets and resource adequacy with keynote speaker Rick Mroz, Commissioner Emeritus and past President, NJBPU, Senior Director for Strategic & Regulatory Affairs, Archer & Greiner
- Integrated energy, modeling and planning with keynote speakers Jonathan Koppell, President, Montclair State University and Honorable Declan J. O’Scanlon Jr., New Jersey Senate
As a whole, the summit will explore how tensions between energy-transition and energy-security goals, costs and shifting demand are reshaping prospects in many industries.
In parallel with the professional discussions, the summit will host the K-12 Keep Our Planet Green artwork contest, showcasing the creative talents of New Jersey students and teachers with prizes awarded across elementary, middle and high school levels.
Additionally, student researchers from several New Jersey universities, including Rutgers, Rowan, Montclair State, NJIT, Princeton, Seton Hall, Stockton and Stevens, will present their Wind Institute Fellowship projects during a poster session.
